GPL’S Health and Safety Seminar welcomed its Subcontractors on 19^th October 2018. The aim of this years gathering was to highlight not only the individuals responsibilities for H&S, but for those working around them.

Colin wright MD of Britannia Health + Safety training Ltd delivered the seminar. He discussed topics such as Responsibilities of the Main Contractor, Sub-Contractors and their  Employees, Permits to Work, Sentencing Guidelines, HSE- Fees for Intervention and Mental Health. Colin also covered Equipment Inspections including a practical forklift session, Current Legislation, Asbestos Awareness, Training and Qualifications and GDPR. A practical session with the delegates was carried out where they completed a Risk Assessment and Method Statement.

In the afternoon the delegates completed Manual Handling Training.

Alongside the Health & Safety Seminar other  delegates were attending a PASMA / Mobile Tower Course, run by Britannia Safety Training LTD. This is a one day course split into a theory and practical session.

Peter Clift MD of GPL said ‘What a beneficial day we had all round. It was good to see so many of the younger lads showing such enthusiasm and knowledge’.

Harvey started his construction career with GPL Construction when he was sixteen, gaining experience both in the office and on site. His interest grew in the construction industry and as a result he decided to go to Wolverhampton University to study Construction Management, spending his 3^rd year out in industry with Carillion. After graduating with a 2:1 in Construction Management BSc (hons) Harvey joined R G Carter in Cambridge as an Assistant Project Manager.

Harvey remarked ‘Working for Carillion and R G Carter helped me gain valuable knowledge in all trades, whilst university helped me learn the technical details as well as planning and other essentials in management.’

After a year gaining more experience Harvey was eager to join GPL Construction again. Our company was looking to expand its Projects team, so we were very happy to welcome him on board in June 2018. He looks forward to getting to know and supporting our customers.

We are very pleased to be welcoming Sara Tomlinson who joined our team in May 2018. Sara worked in the food and beverage industry between 1984 and 2011 in supervisory and Management positions. In 2013 she joined Adrian Flux Insurance and worked for their Customer Service team.

Sara has joined our Administration Office at King’s Lynn and is looking forward to supporting the team and our clients.
